OUR TeacherS

Our amazing teachers are our Space Holders.

Holding space is a conscious act of being present, open and protective of what another person needs in each moment.

Our teachers are supportive and will help guide you through whichever journey you choose to take in our studio.

Judes Yang grew up on the Gold Coast and is an Internationally trained yoga teacher and started teaching at the age of 26. She has lived and taught in the USA, Canada, India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Australia. In 2005, she left her corporate job in Australia to dedicate her life to her practice and to fulfil her calling of being a yoga teacher. She doesn't view this as her job, yoga is Judes living her Dharma. From 2009 - 2013, she trained and taught Hot Yoga teachers overseas in groups of 500+ people at a time. Judes is a Yoga Alliance registered ERYT-500+, with over 14000 teaching hours and over 1200 teacher training hours, not including the trainings she has assisted on. Judes founded her first social enterprise Sahaja - Yoga Mats that give back in 2017 to give back to others. To pay forward the love, support and light she received when she was not in a mentally resilient place. In 2019 she founded State of Sahaja: Yoga studio that gives back to be another platform to propel giving in the community, locally and aboard. Everyone who buys a Sahaja yoga mat, gives a solar light with their purchase. All who come and take a class at State of Sahaja also give. Both her social enterprises are more than yoga mats and more than a yoga studio. They both have been created to give to others, to be of service and aid in the betterment of all beings. Judes is the Chief Light Giver and calls all who own a Sahaja yoga mat "Light Givers" as they give light. The same will now flow onto all the Sahajis who practise at State of Sahaja yoga studio. They light up lives through their act of giving, by simply coming to the yoga studio and taking classes and applying self care. Judes teaches from her heart and her classes are compassionately strong classes. She is calm and present with you every step. She keeps her classes light hearted and is the "yang" to her yin classes. Her classes focus more on mindfulness, being the moment and functional anatomy. She inspires her students to play and embody their fullest potential in every given moment. She is ever present and connected with them in their journey; and her passion is fueled by watching the evolution and growth they experience from their yoga practice. Her classes have been described as 'taking a magic carpet ride'. Judes is an avid Kundalini practitioner and has studied and trained in the following Prana Vinyasa Flow with Shiva Rea, Yin yoga with Sarah Powers and Joe Barnett, Vedic Meditation with Thom Knowles, Barre+, Lagree Fitness, 26 & 2 Hot Yoga, Hot Pilates, Inside Flow yoga with Young Ho Kim, Baron Baptist, Seane Corn, HarJiwan, Guru Jagat and Bryan Kest, and is first and foremost a student. She continues to further her education each year and is looking forward to the next unfolding in her life, Sattva Yoga with Anand Mehrotra. Judes is also a Lululemon Gold Coast ambassador. She is excited to create magic and amplify our community with the amazing Lulu team.

Felicity’s gentle yet powerful approach to yoga allows students of any level to deepen and develop their practice with confidence through strong foundations. Using free diving, stress management and kundalini breath techniques, she aims to empower each student with tools to take off their mat to incorporate into daily practice. Passionate about self preservation, I aim to inform as many people across all fitness industries about safe and efficient movement and fitness. After 5 years exploring different movement for fitness and rehabilitation for knee and shoulder injuries, I completed my 200hr yoga training for self discovery and healing. I fell in love with teaching as it expanded my personal and business development. I now incorporate a range of Kundalini and freediving breath techniques and continue to explore modalities to assist with mobility, dynamic movement, flexibility, rehabilitation, body conditioning, stress management, sleep and more.

Level 2 registered - Yoga Australia (500 hours) My Health Yoga - Teacher Training, 2008 Simon Borg-Olivier - Yoga Therapy, 2011 Iyengar Institute - Pune, India, 2015 My journey of Yoga began in my early 20's; I was experiencing anxiety and experimented with various modalities to ease my discomfort. I found relief from Yoga asana and meditation. I initially practiced Ashtanga Yoga. It suited my temperament and high energy levels. As I approached my 30's, I immersed myself in Iyengar Yoga, preferring alignment, precision and intelligence. Now, as I move into my 40's, I am blending the knowledge I have accumulated into a practise that is more fluid and accommodating. Teaching at Sahaja Yoga is a wonderful opportunity to share what I have learnt on the mat. I look forward to meeting you and working together.

Angela has been practising yoga for 20 years, and teaching for 12. She initially discovered yoga as a way to relieve stress when she lived in London for a few years, and she’s never looked back. In 2005 she decided to undertake formal teacher training, and she completed a 500-hour Diploma in Yoga Teaching at Nature Care College in Sydney in 2007. She practised Ashtanga Yoga for a number of years under the instruction of Trevor Tangye, before moving to the Gold Coast in 2008. She went on to get married to her best mate, and spent the next few years revelling in motherhood with her 2 daughters. Angela has always had a deep interest in the therapeutic applications of yoga, and in 2016 she began her training in Yoga Therapy. During her training she received instruction from some of Australia’s most respected Yoga Therapists and developed a passion for achieving wellness through the mindful application of yogic practices such as mindfulness, pranayama, asana and yogic philosophy. She graduated her training in October 2017, and is registered with the AAYT and Yoga Australia as a Yoga Therapist, and as a Level 2 Teacher with Yoga Australia. Angela regularly updates her skills by attending workshops and trainings and is greatly motivated by the increasing evidence-based research emerging in the field of yoga studies.

Kylie is a mother, business owner, hippie in high heels and yogini – she had always maintained health and wellness but when a health crisis challenged her in 2015 she stumbled across Kundalini Yoga, she regained her health and it totally transformed her life. She has studied Kundalini Yoga in Australia, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States and practices Kundalini Yoga every single day. When she enrolled in Teacher Training in 2018 to deepen her own practice she had no intention to become a Teacher but has since committed to and fallen in love with sharing the teachings. “I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self-indulgent, caring form myself is an act of survival.” Audre Lorde.

Elana has been teaching Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation to children in schools and early learning centres for the past 3 years. Her dream of bringing meditation, breathing and movement to children was ignited many years ago after spending time living in Singapore where she learnt Tai Chi and Meditation from elders in the local community. Returning to Australia, Elana completed her Meditation studies and then started training as a Development Play Therapist. Seeing firsthand the profound impact movement and connection could have on the fundamental development of children Elana decided she wanted to create change in the way we help guide young minds and bodies everywhere. On completing her Yoga training, Elana created super fun and creative Kids Yoga and Mindfulness programs that are now being offered as part of the curriculum in education centres all over QLD. Elana is super excited to bring her passion and enthusiasm for Kids Yoga to State of Sahaja and this is very evident in the energy and presence she brings to her classes. Elana will create a fun, connective and sustainable space where your child will be inspired to grow mindfully and confidently. Happiness is... happy, healthy kids!
